Balanchine Timeline
Born during the twilight of czarist Russia, when given the chance to adopt the U.S. as his home and professional haven, George Balanchine leapt at the opportunity. The thrust of his life, while honoring the best accomplishments of the past, was not to look back, but forward. He embraced the future. His aesthetic vision expanded the boundries of classic dance daily. The world will always be indebted to Mr. B. for the choreographic works that continue to speak to us in a language that has never been spoken with greater eloquence.
